For six years. I've made guides in collaboration with the Folktale Week event on instagram, the grandmother and good witch of all instagram challenges. I do it because I grew up loving old stories and making art to tell visual stories is second nature. I do it because I love storytelling, making community with like hearted humans and Folktale Week fits the bill.

This year's Folktale Week Guide once again comes in two inspiring parts: BOOK ONE with new resources and a beautiful primer on the history of folk and fairytales and BOOK TWO, a big inspiring guide of wonderful visual and written storytelling prompts to help you begin thinking of how you might create beautiful tales of your own. This year I'm also offering last year's prompt guide so you can have double the enchantment! (see choices at check-out!)

Both parts of the SCD Folktale Companion Guides are filled to the brim with folk and fairy tale inspirations, resources and ideas about telling and retelling old stories. This year's prompts are NEW and designed for storytellers, artists and illustrators of all kinds to get you excited and prepared for the wonderful instagram challenge that is Folktale Week and beyond.

The SCD FOLKTALE STORY WEEKEND WORKSHOP IS HAPPENING. NOV 3-4-5! The Story Weekend is always a good time with a dedicated Slack group to go though Folktale Week with. And this year we have special guests: award-winning writer-illustrators Sarah Dyer, Zahra Marwan and Margaux Kent to discuss making up stories, visual storytelling and what your own singular realm of what folk and fairytales can be. FTW Hosts Kaly Quarles and Tanja Stefani will also be in attendance! Head over to that link if you'd like to join us!

Thank you for helping in this endeavor and hope you love this year's edition!
