HOW IT WORKS:
Each month we'll explore the world of ideas and inspiration through a new theme along with writing and art-making prompts to challenge and encourage your ideas to come to life in your unique hands, whatever kind of art or illustration you do. I'll inspire and encourage you to dive into a concept, dig down for ideas have fun and play with them, turn them over in the fertile soil of your imagination and create something only your hands can make. Its designed for you to bring whatever it is you do or WANT to do to the table, create some portfolio gold or just expand your work into new avenues and think like an artist!

Beginning June 29th you'll get your first jam-packed art workbook with a very special theme for the month. It will be filled with challenges, writing, art and journal exercises and loads of inspirations and ideas for playing with ideas, ways of seeing the world and materials in new ways. We will touch on amazing secret of which your minds will be blown (I promise!) and there will be tutorials and concepts, artists to consider, readings, book & film recommendations with prompts to take you through the month and unstick your imagination, inspire your work, help you find you words and your voice, and challenge your creative process and your creative life.

If you choose the Zoom option (Option 1!) we'll zoom together on Friday June 30th at 12 noon EDT to meet, talk about the workbook of the month, start a writing prompt and art-make along session with me to begin the project and start the month. It's meant to be a wonderful idea-lab lunch-hour to inspire conversation about the month ahead of us.

Option 1 also includes a dedicated Slack group to share your work, get and give feedback, ask questions and hang out with amazing other artists and illustrators from around the world, each showing their different takes on the prompts and the challenges. I'll drop more inspiration in between meet-ups too in the Slack group and check in with everyone over the month.

This workshop is perfect for picture book makers, writers looking for a new perspective, and artists of all kinds, editorial artists, designers, readers, crafters, makers of all stripes, and storytellers of all kinds!

Zooms will be recorded if you cant make it and all Zoom links will be given in the Slack group.

SCD Testimonials:
"So many other classes don’t seem to appreciate individuality and what making art really means to you. In all the StoryCamp Disco workshops and residencies, all the art was so unique to each person, didn’t all look the same.. Best of all, no one was competing--all the work was different and quirky and so magnificent to see--I really began to find my voice, grew in confidence and made such great art friendships! " -Sharon Nullmeyer.

"Trophies, medals, and flower crowns for Deb! Deb's workshops exceeded my expectations on every level: the workbooks, the tools, and arguably the best - the community. She somehow managed to wrangle in the raddest people for this and we all made unique contributions. I haven't tried to write a story since my college assignments (~15 years ago, eek!) and I was a bit nervous going in that I'd emerge with a burned out lightbulb. Instead, I left the workshop with an absolute treasure of a story that I cannot wait to develop and pitch to publishers some day. If I didn't have a prior commitment for the February session, I'd already be signed up!" -Kaly Quarles
